A Little Backstory (The Quick Version)
Livingston Manor owes its start to the railroad. Back in the 1880s, the O&W Railway rolled through, turning this quiet hamlet into a bustling destination for city folks escaping to the Catskills. But when the trains stopped running in the 1950s, things got quiet. Route 17—the “Quickway”—brought new visitors, but for years, it also made it easy to just drive right past our Main Street. Today, we’re seeing a renaissance. New restaurants, shops, and a wave of folks who fell in love with the area and decided to stay have breathed fresh life into The Manor. Now, as the state debates widening Route 17, locals are asking: what if we invested that money right here—in our roads, sidewalks, and the community that makes this place worth stopping for?
